Commissioned soundscape formed with original field recordings from 4 territories of the Departement Bouches-du-Rhône : Martigues, Istres, Miramas & Salon-de-Provence. The aim of the project was to define a common geographical space called ‘MIMS’, while preserving the specificity of the 4 towns so that they could be so that they can be integrated into the communication tools of tourism partners, and give a unique identity to a forgotten tourist area between the Camargue and Calanques national parks.
Presented by the award-winning eco-design agency Canopée in partnership with the Offices du Tourisme. The ‘Sensorium’ is a work consisting of removable, autonomous parts representing each part of the region, on which are printed stylised illustrations of the elements that make up the region's identity, decorated with sensory samples to touch, taste and smell. The accompanying soundscape, composed by Mat Eric Hart, takes the audience on a journey from the city of Salon-de-Provence to the shores of the Mediterranean, exploring the ‘spirit of place’ by tracing its sonic identity through the observation of its cultural, traditional and environmental characteristics.
Binaural stereo mix recommended for listening with headphones.
